A Secular Homeschooler Speaks Up

22 December 2009 One Comment

A few days ago, a professional journal, published this “scholarly” piece on why homeschooling should be regulated.

Many people responded to her and posted their responses on elists and blogs, but this one, in my opinion, is by far the best. It’s the best because it comes from a secular homeschooling mom who does the research Robin West should have done. In other words, she one-upped the original article, and called her bluff from the same “team.” It is long, but I recommend reading it. It’s a logical, well thought out, and well-researched piece on why homeschooling regulation doesn’t make sense from any of the angles presented in the original article.

It’s also quite informative on the history of homeschooling. Might be worth reading for some in-the-pocket info for Xmas family visits… just in case :)

Update: Here is another wonderful response by Milton Gaither. Very level headed and clear.
