Just Enough and Nothing More

Barnes and Noble is having their educator appreciation week during the second week of April.

In the past week or so, there have been many homeschooling articles posted in local and national papers. Is this a sign of something changing? A coincidence? Or just more of the same?

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle just signed a law to make kindergarten attendance mandatory. How will it affect homeschoolers?

It’s that time again folks - Borders teacher appreciation week has begun. Extra discounts and goodies can be found at your local Borders bookstores.
Also, remember that Borders and Barnes & Noble have changed their educational discount program. So if you haven’t already, you’re going to have to renew your card even if it’s not expired. Bring with you your teacher ID or PSA, or whatever other “proof” you have of being a homeschooler so you can get your new card.

Homeschoolers’ freedoms in the UK are being threatened, and it’s a serious problem. The problem is an over-zealous government that does not take its citizens or their opinions in account when making laws or policies. It is a threat against democratic process, and could strip UK homeschoolers of many of the rights that every other parent would continue to keep.

We’re not going to see any true educational reform under Arne Duncan. If you want real reform, homeschool.

With all the schools closing across the US, where are all these kids spending their day? And what happens to all those required school hours? And how to the kids keep up with test prep?

Gender rules being taught on the school yard from bullies. Put this in the “Thank God I’m homeschooling” category.

I believe that my children have the same basic human rights as adults. I believe all children do. In school, children lose too many of their rights, and adults have far too much authority over them than they should.

More school? Bring it on!
